New Delhi, Jul 28 (INB) More than 3.11 lakh students and 6,974 faculty members in Andhra Pradesh have accessed scholarly journals under the One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) Scheme since its launch in January 2025, according to an information shared by the Centre in Lok Sabha.
In a written reply, Minister of State for Education Dr Sukanta Majumdar on Monday said the ONOS scheme provides eligible higher education institutions and research and development (R&D) institutions with access to more than 13,000 journals published by 32 publishers across disciplines such as science, technology, medicine, arts and humanities.
The minister said around 3.11 lakh students and 6,974 faculty members in Andhra Pradesh have used the scheme so far. He added that 68 eligible institutions in the state are yet to be onboarded under the scheme, with district-wise details provided in the reply.
Majumdar said the government, through the Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre, has launched several initiatives to improve awareness and utilisation of ONOS, particularly in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
These include special lectures, webinars for institutional nodal officers, college administrator sessions on journal access and Article Processing Charges (APC), publisher-led user awareness programmes, offline lectures in collaboration with universities, and regular publication of frequently asked questions (FAQs) to facilitate wider adoption of the scheme, according to the statement.
